Chronicles of Darkness (CoD-X)

Our continuity is shared with the Mind’s Eye Society. As such, our setting documents are being hosted on the Mind’s Eye Society website

“We live our days completely ignorant of the true terrors lurking around us. Only rarely do our experiences draw back the veil of shadows and reveal the horror in our midst. These glimpses into the supernatural can cause us to retreat into comforting lies — “There are no such things as monsters” — or stir our morbid curiosity. Only a few, however, can overcome their fear and dare to look deeper.”

Five years ago, something in the world changed.  For ten seconds, the world stopped and a war was fought between the ticks of a clock.  It would later be called “The Icarus Event” – named after the Greek who flew too close to the sun.  It was a reminder to everyone that no matter how great or how much power one attained, that there was always something greater and larger out there.  In our combined game, that thing is known as the God Machine. What it is in reality is shrouded in mystery. For some, it’s a symbol of ultimate stasis, while others perceive it as a balance to existence and life. Each different supernatural tends to have their own views on what it is – not all of them are the most stellar or well-researched.  Shortly after the Icarus Event happened, what remained of supernatural society had to pick itself up and stop pointing fingers and realize that there was a common enemy. They had to rebuild, reallocate, and refocus. This is where we are at now.

In our World of Darkness, changelings, demons, mages and vampires exist together in linked games across Canada (and, indeed, internationally) – as rivals, friends, and allies of convenience.  Some seek mere survival, others dream of glory and jockey for power, still others seek something less tangible.  Behind all of these machinations, the mysterious specter of the God Machine looms – what is its role in our story?  Join us and find out!
